Gir Forest National Sanctuary - Introduction
Gir Forest is one of India’s oldest and most famous wildlife sanctuaries. Known for being the exclusive habitat of the majestic Asiatic Lion (Panthera leo persica), the sanctuary is an essential destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The Gir forest was established to protect the endangered Asiatic lion, and its population has steadily increased over the years due to conservation efforts.
Gir Sanctuary spans a vast 1882.6 square kilometers, and the sanctuary area includes 1412.1 square kilometers designated as Protected Area, and 470.5 square kilometers of the forest area serves as the buffer zone, offering a safe habitat for the wildlife.

Gir Online Safari Booking System
To visit Gir Forest and experience its wildlife up close, you must book a safari permit in advance. Safari permits are available online, and it’s important to secure your permits early, as 50% of the permits are pre-booked.

Limited Availability: Only 90 safari permits are issued per day. Make sure to book early to avoid missing out.
On-Site Availability: The remaining permits are available at the travel desk in Sinh Sadan. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Identification Requirement: Visitors need to carry an identity card to avail of the permits, as it’s required during check-in.

Devalia, Gir Interpretation Zone
Devalia Safari Park also known as Gir Interpretation Zone – “Devalia”, is the establishment of particular eco-tourism zone to reduce overload of tourists from Gir Forest Visit and to provide whole wildlife of Gir at single place in safe habitats.
There are animals like Asiatic lions, Leopards, Blue Bull, Sambhar, Chital, Jackal, Black buck, Wild Boar etc. The presence of Savana habitat and other flora is also another attraction of the area. Many rare birds including Peafowl and vultures are common in the Devalia.

Mount Girnar
Girnar Mountain, located 4 km east of Junagadh, rises to 1,100 meters (3,630 feet) and is a prominent landmark in the region. Known for its rich history and natural beauty, it is home to a cluster of Jain temples built between 1128 and 1500.
The mountain is closely linked to Neminath, the 22nd Jain Tirthankara, with a marble temple dedicated to him at the summit. Visitors can also explore the Mallinath Temple (1177) for its architectural beauty.At Ambaji Peak (3,330 feet), the Amba Mata Temple offers stunning views and spiritual significance, with a belief that visiting ensures a happy marriage.

Somnath Temple
Somnath Temple is an ancient temple enshrining the sacred Shivlinga, one of the 12 Shiva Jyotirlingas in India. It is located on the shore of Arabian Sea. Mythological evidences put the foundation of this temple by Soma, the Moon. This temple was constructed by the moon and dedicated to Shiva (Somnath) as the moon got reprieve from the curse of Daksha at this place. Via Talala it would not take an hour to reach here !

Junagadh

Tulsishyam
